Speaking at the Gaidar Forum in Moscow on January 15, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that “a sharp fall in cryptocurrency is not a reason to bury them”.
Medvedev made such a statement, noting the question of RANEPA Vladimir Mau, Rector of RANEPA, whether it is worth saving money not only in euros, but also in cryptocurrencies. Medvedev, in particular, said:
“This year has shown their [cryptocurrency] exceptional volatility. Here we met a year ago at the Gaidar Forum, discussing how good and interesting it is. Since then, some cryptocurrencies, as is known, have fallen five times, but this, of course, is no reason to bury them. ”
According to Medvedev, “as in any matter, there are both bright and dark sides.” Also, the Prime Minister called for “closely and comprehensively monitor this phenomenon.”
He added that even countries with good economic indicators are wary of new trends, explaining:
“On the one hand, this level of uncertainty is set objectively – this is a payment for technological progress. On the other hand, it is being created purposefully, I meant the policy of aggression, which some countries have taken recently. ”
Recall that, although last May State Duma deputies reviewed and passed three bills at first reading designed to fill gaps in legislation in the digital economy, the Central Bank has so far stated that it opposes the exchange of cryptocurrencies for rubles, other currency or property. The Central Bank believes that this will provide opportunities for conducting operations of a “dubious nature.”
